We have a lot of great local beers here in Minnesota. I'm a big fan of Summit, Surley and Lift Bridge. My brother-in-law single handed can keep Grain Belt in business for years!! I like Grain Belt Nordeast. So on this very humid and hot day I am thinking about an ice cold beer.
The website Thrillist just put together a map of the U.S. that breaks down all 50 states by their most POPULAR and ICONIC beer.
To qualify, the beer has to be either headquartered or founded in the state, and has to be associated with the state. It's less focused on the microbreweries making the best tasting beer and more on the brands that are most famous.
There are also some states where, apparently, the favorite beer is "liquor." For Kentucky, the pick is Jim Beam . . . for Tennessee, it's Jack Daniel's . . . for Louisiana, it's Southern Comfort . . . and for New Jersey, it's Jagermeister.
